Informational Materials
Part of AMC’s work includes the management of huts and lodges throughout the Northeast. These destinations provide visitors with a base for their outdoor adventures, whether they are skiing in Maine’s 100 Mile Wilderness, traversing New Hampshire’s Presidential Range, or paddling on one of Harriman State Park’s lakes.
To assure each guest that stays at an AMC destination has everything they need, I worked with each lodging manager to develop informational materials that would inform guests about everything from where to hike, to where to eat, what to pack, and more. I also supported the creation of interpretive displays to educate visitors about the ecosystems that surround each destination, AMC’s mission and work, and encourage future interaction and support for the organization.
Examples of these materials include informational binders for cabins, self-guiding stargazing books, and emails with packing lists and driving directions sent out before guests arrive.
Locations:
Maine, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey
Lessons Learned:
Understanding how guests interact with these materials helps decide which projects to take on and develop. Knowing what resources are necessary and how to communicate those resources helps keep guests safe and comfortable throughout their stay.
